In the tradition of Mr. Rogers Neighborhood and Reading Rainbow, Quiet Time Tales is wholesome, educational children’s programming. Each of the DVDs in the collection contain five complete stories read aloud by the gentle character of Grandpa Read, played by Gary Sturm a grandfather of four, veteran actor and retired schoolteacher. 

Dozens of illustrations commissioned specifically for the collection accompany the stories.  At the end of each DVD, Grandpa Read sings a new original song.  This combination has been observed to have a soothing effect on children and has resulted in an increase in children’s desire to be read to by parents and grandparents. 

Children love Grandpa Read’s faithful canine companion, Champ, and the silly goldfish, Sparky and Wanda, that share Grandpa Read’s world and enjoy his stories.

At Live to Give Foundation (L2G), we help families in their time of need in a personal way. The most common and watered down element that we as human beings have is family, therefore everyone can connect to helping families that are sharing hardship. In addition, the most distinguishing trait that we as human beings have is a need to personally and emotionally connect as social beings. These two factors helped me create a vision that aligns with my passion to change the world.
Since our launch in November of 2007, we have become a registered charity, applied for 501(c)3 status with the IRS, raised almost $20,000, helped 3 amazing families in dire need and inspired 8 team members soon to be 10 (of which 8 are under 23 years old) to join the team voluntarily . All of this has happened while we completed our college educations, held jobs and internships, and maintained a level of “normalcy” in the formative years that usually revolve around taring society down, rather than lifting it up. We have rallied college students around the state, entire congragations of churches, corporate sponsors like PetCo and Buffalo Wild Wings, and even our own Detroit Pistons of the NBA. Beyond these results, we have helped a very sick Bruce Scharfenberg get the tests needed for a heart transplant, we were able to provide 4 months of health insurance and a Christmas to remember with her 4 children for a terminal Melissia Kent and we have recently kept an entire Shuck family from living on the streets and homeless shelters for the past 3 months with an additional 6 months of housing in motion.
